Advertising Photo Compositing for Desjardins Bank
For a recent Desjardins Bank campaign, The Retoucher Studio completed advertising photo compositing to create two final campaign images from multiple individual photographs. Each composition featured three models, with the models and background selected from different shots rather than relying on a single photograph.
The goal was to bring the strongest elements from the shoot together while making the finished images feel as though everything had been captured naturally in one frame. This type of detailed compositing gives agencies and creative teams in Vancouver greater flexibility when selecting expressions, poses, backgrounds, and environmental elements for commercial campaign imagery.
Desjardins Bank Photo Compositing Project
- Client: Desjardins Bank
- Final images: Two advertising campaign composites
- Models: Three models selected from separate photographs
- Background: Selected from a different photograph
- Retouching: Masking, compositing, color and lighting integration
- Creative work: Digital sunbeam recreation and background extension
- Final application: Large-format window display
Building the Final Images from Multiple Photographs
Both final images were assembled piece by piece. We selected each of the three models from separate photographs and carefully integrated them into a background taken from another shot. This gave the creative team greater control over which poses and expressions appeared in the finished campaign.
Bringing several photographs together required precise masking, positioning, and perspective adjustments. Once the models were placed, we refined their scale and relationship to one another so the group felt naturally photographed rather than assembled from separate source files.
Photo Montage Services for Natural Image Integration
Our photo montage services involved more than simply cutting out the models and placing them into a new background. Each element needed to appear as though it belonged within the same visual environment.
We refined tonal balance, color, edges, lighting, and overall integration so that the transitions between the original photographs disappeared in the finished images. Particular attention was given to the relationship between the models and the surrounding space. Small differences in lighting, scale, or perspective can quickly reveal that an image has been composited, so these details were carefully adjusted until the individual photographs worked together as one cohesive scene.
Recreating Warm Sunlight Through the Windows
One of the more creative aspects of the project involved changing the atmosphere of the scene. To give the final images a warmer and more inviting feeling, we digitally recreated a subtle sunbeam effect entering through the windows in the background.
The added light was designed to follow the existing direction of the scene rather than appear as a separate effect. We adjusted its intensity, softness, and warmth to complement the models and interior, helping unify elements that originally came from different photographs.
Commercial Photo Compositing and Background Extension
The final campaign images also required extensive background extension. Because the artwork was intended for a large window display, the original photograph did not provide enough background coverage for the required dimensions.
As part of the commercial photo compositing process, we extended the environment beyond the boundaries of the original frame while maintaining the architecture, perspective, lighting, and visual continuity of the existing scene. The expanded background allowed the final artwork to fit the display format without stretching or disproportionately cropping the original photography.
Preparing the Composites for Large-Format Display
Large-format applications require particular attention to detail because imperfections that may go unnoticed at a smaller size become much more visible when an image is enlarged. Edges, masks, background extensions, transitions, and reconstructed areas therefore needed to remain clean and believable at the final viewing scale.
This final quality-control stage helped ensure that the composited elements remained seamless when the campaign imagery was reproduced for its intended window-display format.
From Separate Photographs to Two Finished Campaign Images
The completed advertising photo compositing project transformed multiple source photographs into two unified campaign images. Three separately selected models, an independently selected background, recreated sunlight, and an extended environment were combined to create finished visuals suitable for large-format commercial display.
For agencies, brands, and creative teams in Vancouver and throughout Canada, this type of photo montage and commercial compositing workflow provides considerably more flexibility after a shoot. Instead of being limited to a single frame, individual elements can be selected and refined to build the strongest possible final composition while maintaining a natural photographic result.
